Using Unregistered NDIS Providers

What You Need to Know

At Family First Services, we operate as an unregistered NDIS provider, which means we can offer flexible, personalised support to families and individuals, while still upholding the standards set by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

Who can access unregistered NDIS providers?

NDIS participants with a self-managed or plan-managed plan can choose to work with unregistered providers like Family First Services in most situations.

A self-managed plan means you (or your nominee) take responsibility for purchasing your supports and managing your funding.

A plan-managed plan involves working with a registered plan manager who helps manage the budget and pays your chosen providers – including unregistered ones.

Our Commitment to Quality and Safety

Even as an unregistered provider, we are committed to meeting the NDIS Code of Conduct. This includes delivering safe, respectful and high-quality services. We follow best practice standards and continuously reflect on how to best support the people we work with.

Feedback and Complaints

We welcome feedback and are committed to open communication. If you have any concerns or suggestions, we have a clear complaints process to ensure your voice is heard and addressed respectfully. You also have the right to raise any issues directly with the NDIS Commission.

Capacity Building Support

What We Offer At Family First Services, our early intervention and family support services are grounded in social work principles. We are proud to offer capacity building support that nurtures both the individual and the family as a whole.

Our services include:

  • Key worker model

  • Individualised support plans

  • Family-centred counselling

  • Goal setting and skill development

  • Case coordination

  • Advocacy and support navigating systems

  • Early childhood support for developmental needs

We work alongside families, empowering them to create meaningful change and build strong foundations for the future.

NDIS Worker Screening and Safeguarding

For self-managed participants, you may choose whether or not you require workers to undergo an NDIS Worker Screening Check.

At Family First Services, we are committed to transparency and work with families to ensure confidence in who is supporting you and your child.

Support Coordination now available

Support Coordination is about more than just connecting you with providers. It’s about helping you understand your NDIS plan, make informed choices, and coordinate the right supports so they work together effectively for you and your family.

As a Social Worker and Early Childhood Practitioner, my approach to Support Coordination is:

  • Family-centred and practical

  • Grounded in capacity building, not dependence

  • Focused on real-life outcomes, not just paperwork

I support participants and families to:

  • Understand their NDIS plan and budgets

  • Identify and engage appropriate providers

  • Coordinate allied health, education, and community supports

  • Navigate changes, reviews, and life transitions

  • Build confidence to manage supports independently over time

My goal is to work with you — building your skills and understanding — so you feel confident managing your plan and know when and how to seek guidance when needed.

With significant changes coming to the NDIS over the next few years, having informed, ethical Support Coordination now can make a meaningful difference.

If you’d like to know whether Support Coordination is right for you or your family, feel free to get in touch.
